Indonesian bilateral trade surged to $ one billion, Ishak Latuconsina
MULTAN,Feb 8th:Pakistan and Indonesia are going to sign the Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA), which would greatly benefit both the countries . Bilateral trade between Pakistan and Indonesia is in the tune of US$1 billion Pakistan exports Indonesia Kinnow,sea-food,textile, cotton yarn, medical equipment, rice, wheat and carpets. Whereas Indonesia exports Pakistan palm-oil,said Indonesian ambassador Ishak Latuconsina said in his letter to investors.He said that Apart from the Pakistanis living in Indonesia, there are close to 100 Indonesian students studying in various Pakistani universities. He said Indonesia offered a rich and potential market for Pakistani citrus fruit and Irri-6 rice “We ask for the early conclusion of the PTA which would prove to be a win-win situation for both of us. Pakistani Kinnows export to Indonesia has reduced drastically owing to the increased custom duty by Indonesia. The PTA would also enable you to regain the palm oil market here in Pakistan and we need to extensively increase our bilateral cooperation in agriculture sector and look forward to Indonesia for early responses, the minister added. He said a Palm Oil Extracting Plant has been set up at Thatta with help of Malaysia that would be functional by the end of June this year. He invited the ambassador to visit the sight and motivate Indonesian business community from the private sector to invest in the palm oil production in Pakistan.Ishak Latuconsina said his top priority was to increase the volume of trade between the two countries.
