MULTAN,Feb 11th: The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) employees on friday staged a demonstration in front of city terminal under the leadership
of Joint Action Committee office bearers Faheem Khan Babur, Mehr Qadar Bakhsh, Bilal Lashari and Imran Baig and demanded for immediate acceptance of their demands i.e 50 percent increase in their salaries, removal of managing director Ijaz Haroon,ending the agreement with Turkish airlines.PIA has been facing a a dozen flights cancellation on domestic and international sectors for the last three days in Multan ,Bahawalpur, Rahimyar Khan and Dera Ghazi Khan, sources said on Friday.
The ongoing strike by the Joint Action Committee of PIA Employees (JACPIAE) has caused the national flag carrier over Rs 1 billion losses, Fahim Khan Babur said. and appealed the Supreme Court to take notice of massive corruption in the airlines.The employees demanded the government sack PIA Managing Director Capt (r) Ejaz Haroon for anti-employees policies and restore the sacked pilots.The passengers, especially who have work visas for Arab states, have to suffer more as if they fail to reach on time their visas will expire. To save their jobs, many passengers paid higher fares to private airlines to reach their destinations.
