Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) on Saturday reinstated 150 more sacked employees, out of total 650, in second phase as per the government’s education policy. Earlier in 2010, FDE decided sacking its 650 employees, both teaching and non-teaching staff under rightsizing and downsizing policy. However, later, FDE had to reverse its decision in accordance with Presidential Employees (Reinstatement) Ordinance. The reinstated employees of FDE appealed to the government to take action against those officials who allegedly were trying to terminate them so that their vacancies are filled by ‘favorite people’.A number of FDE employees, talking to SPN, alleged that than joint education adviser and director coordination were the main characters who were trying to replace more than 650 employees with their ‘favourite people’ in violation of Presidential Employees (Reinstatement) Ordinance 2009. The sacked employees said that their future was in doldrums and in uncertainty but they were now happy to get letters for restoration of their job from FDE. “We don’t believe that we will be able to get back our slots. It is a miracle for us,” they said. According to sources in FDE, the reinstated employees resumed their services when Education Ministry was allocated budget 18 months ago. Sources said that in the first phase, over 206 sacked employees, were reinstated while in the second phase 150 restored employees were issued the letter for their rejoining in their respective offices. “In the third phase, remaining 294 sacked employees will be reinstated shortly,” the sources said. All restored employees will be posted in schools and colleges after scrutiny. All area education officers will be consulted in this regard, FDE officials told South Punjab news (SPN).
