FARE INCREASED


MULTAN,Feb 18th:Pakistan Railways (PR) income has increased after increasing the fares in passenger trains as Railways earned over Rs 320 million from passengers business during the first ten days of current month.
According to details, the Railways has increased 10 to 20 percent fares in passenger trains with effect from 1st February and it has revealed that Railways has earned Rs 320 million from 1st February to 10th of February against Rs 268 million during first ten days of January 2011. The Railways sources said that although the overall income has increased after increasing the fares but the other side short distance passengers have decreased because minimum fare has fixed Rs 25 for 1-40 km distance. To a query sources said that PSO was supplying fuel as per routine and agency has not stopped the fuel supply. Railways has two days oil reservoirs for operational purposes and hopefully trains operation would continue, sources added.
